Nancy,

One way to know if your doctor is worth seeing is to take notice of whether or not he or she asks about your vitamin D levels during your first or second visit, regardless of whether they're routine checkups or visits to specialists. With all the information that's out there, I wouldn't trust my health to a doctor that did not request I have blood work done for among other reasons to determine my vitamin D level.

Marilyn,

Give it a couple more years. The scientists are working around the clock trying to figure out whether or not there's a disease or condition out there that ISN'T caused by or in some way related to vitamin D deficiency.

If you follow the links to the National Institute of Health studies presented in the most recent Vitamin D and Hair Loss article, you'll find one referencing a condition in which vitamin D receptors in the skin are dysfunctional and do not convert sunlight into vitamin D3. Since the discovery of this condition is so new, as of the last time I read up on the subject I had never seen a specific term or name associated with the disorder. That said, if there isn't one by now, there likely will be soon. I'll look into it and post about it if I can find anything.

We host the site with a company called GoDotYourself.com. They're a lot like GoDaddy, only without the annual price increases.

Are you sure you're not confusing D2 and D3? All available evidence on the subject suggests that if anything, the exact opposite of what you've stated here should be the case.

If in fact you're finding better results with high doses of D2 than you are with normal doses of D3, it may be time for you to try a higher-quality brand of supplement (OTC brands in drugstores and grocery chains are not the same as those manufactured by top-of-the line nutriceutical laboratories.

My recommendation would be to give either <a href="http://www.eganmedical.com/Vitamin-D3-Supplement-1-000-IU-p/msvs-vitd31000-83007.htm" title="Douglas Labs Vitamin D3 Supplements 1,000 IU" target="_blank">Douglas Labs</a>, Biotech or <a href="http://www.eganmedical.com/Vitamin-D3-5-000-IU-Supplement-p/msvs-vitd35100.htm" title="Egan Wellness Clinic Vitamin D3 Supplements" target="_blank">Egan Wellness Clinic brand Vitamin D3 Supplements</a> and see how you do with a superior supplement made with better ingredients and made with better equipment using a better process than what you'll find in the grocery store or pharmacy.
